The magic in her
It was autumn when Luna arrived in the world. Her mother
Grace was not in Luna’s world for long.
Grace passed out when Luna was 4. Luna didn’t care,
“O’course, no one ain’t born immortal,” she said to people who asked her why she wasn’t upset.
A few people told her she ought to hold a funeral. They didn’t make this suggestion for long, as Luna used to Kick those who did.
Luna’s mother had been a pirate, a pirate captain.
By the time Luna was 13, she had taken Grace’s place and was the captain of all the Irish pirates.
Luna had them all trained for a battle against Spain.
She used to take the pirates every morning to the sea. Her ship was called the Moiradeck.
A few months passed. The battle had begun. On Wednesday morning, Luna led a gang of pirates to the Moira.
She saw the Spanish ships in the distance. She prepared the cannons. The time for the battle.
Soon, the air was thick withbangs and crashes. Luna was doing her job nicely. Less than an hour later, the battle ended. Luna won.
Luna always said, “when you are a captain, taking risks for a better team is the right thing to do.”
