Chapter one: “The House”
Once, in a small garden beside a well, lived an earthworm named Joanna. She used to live with her mother. Her mother used to call her Jo. One rainy day, her mother went to collect food for them. Two hours passed, but her mother did not come back. So little Jo went out to explore. At once, she found herself facing a tall cliff.
She stared in wonder. ‘Who’s there?’ asked Jo. No reply came back. She thought why not climb up and see.
Chapter two: “Jo’s own adventure”
Jo had a little adventure herself in the meantime. She started to climb the steep cliff. At last, huffing and puffing, she reached the top, and was surprised to find it flat. Jo caught sight of a small tunnel. It had a musty smell, she wriggled in. As she crawled in, it smelled like paint. It was dark and damp.
Suddenly it came to an end. With the help of some pebbles, she jumped into a sort of flat solid ground. Jo went down to the flat ground. There she found a rather gigantic piece of cotton hanging somewhere from the ceiling in front of her. Just as she tried to examine it closely, she found herself falling. She was afraid of being killed and prayed for mercy. ‘Oh, no!’ Jo cried. ‘What next?’.
Quite a lot. Soon, Jo landed with a bump on a wooden floor almost at once. A click on her spine made her jump.
Chapter three: “Who saved her life?”
Jo saw an enormous creature, maybe a giant, approaching her. As it stretched its arm to pick something up from the ground, it caught sight of Jo. Jo crawled back with an eager face. She picked up a thing stuck on Joanna’s spine. It was a small pink pearl. And suddenly, the giant opened a huge mouth and yelled, ‘Ama! Ba! Come here at once. There is an earthworm in the house. Come and get rid of it. Please.’ Amaaaa! A loud voice rocked the room.
Jo felt a little frightened now. She realised that she made a mistake. “Why did I leave home?” But she had already been captured!
Chapter four: “A narrow escape”
Trapped in a tissue paper held by Ama, Jo struggled. It was becoming hard for her to breathe. She was thrown out back to the garden. And with a yelp and a bump, she landed beside her mother. ‘Mother!’ ‘Jo! Honey! Where have you been?’ Soon there were a lot of hugs and kisses. Jo was telling about her adventures, safe in her mother’s arms and they lived happily ever after.
Nice story ☺️
